Getting the Most Out of Your Video Content

In a time where it seems that every piece of media put online is replaced and forgotten within minutes, how can you make sure your video content is getting seen by your followers? Marketing and brand videos should never be posted once and forgotten about. Think about how many times you’ve seen the same commercial on tv or before a YouTube video, or heard the same jingle play on a radio ad? Your marketing videos should be in front of your customers more than once. And here are a few ways you can repurpose your content to get the most bang for your buck on your video productions.

Sharing on Social Media

Never post your video once to social media and forget about it. Even if you feel you got a good amount of views, keep going!

  1. Always upload your video to each social media site, don’t share the link from other sites like YouTube. Social media sites prioritize content that is uploaded directly to their sites, and will not show links to other sites as often. For example, if you’re posting your video to Facebook, you need to upload the video directly to Facebook- sharing a YouTube link on Facebook is a bad idea, as the Facebook algorithm doesn’t want to link content from other sites. It will let you share the link, but it will make sure it doesn’t show up in your followers’ feeds.

  2. Try using your video as a paid ad on social media

  3. Don’t be afraid to share the video more than once. Try not to spam your audience with the same post over and over, but try sharing it once every few months

  4. On Facebook and Instagram, make sure you’re sharing the video as a post, and sharing the post in your stories

  5. Share your video on all your social media accounts, and try different captions and CTA’s with each to see what people respond to

Sharing on Websites

Putting your video on the home page of your website is always a great idea. Search engines prioritize websites that have video content, and it gives your customers a quick look at who you are as a company.

  1. Put your video on your home page or about page of your website, somewhere that viewers can find it easily.

  2. YouTube is a great platform to host your video to share on your website. Most websites have built in YouTube video players, and since YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world (second only to Google) YouTube videos are easy to find online, and will appear in seaches across the web- linking more people back to your content!

  3. Does your website have a blog? Make a blog post about the video! Share the video and some behind-the-scenes photos, or go into more detail about your brand, history, products, or people!

Other ways to share

  2. Add the video to your email signature

  3. Run the video as an ad on local television stations or streaming platforms

  4. Play the video at an event you are hosting
